Grilled Fruit Skewers with Whipped Strawberry Cream Cheese Dip

June 25, 2012 by Hanan Webster 9 Comments

Recently, I had the opportunity to try out some new Weight Watchers® cheese and cream cheese items. First off, I want to say that while I have heard many success stories from friends about Weight Watchers and their program I haven’t tried it myself and don’t plan to.

However, I like cheese, my kids love cheese, and we use cheese quite often in this house. So hey, why not?

Before Weight Watchers® cheese and cream cheese items were available, there were not many options for those who wanted to enjoy great tasting cheese without all the fat and calories. Now, Weight Watchers® shredded cheeses, natural cheese slices, cream cheeses, singles, string cheese, and cheese snacks all provide a delicious, convenient option to high calorie, full-fat cheeses. Enjoy the rich, flavorful taste of cheese for a PointsPlus® value of just 1 or 2 per serving.

They sent us four different varieties to try. Each are marked with the Weight Watchers “points”. So you know right away how much of each you want or can have. Weight Watchers® cheese and cream cheese items, as with all their food products can be purchased from any of these local retailers.

Reduced Fat Pepper Jack Singles

So far I have used these in our buffalo chicken sandwiches, burgers, and on a breakfast sandwich. It added a great kick to each of the sandwiches, without going totally overboard. Even my girls, who are not big spicy fans, would eat it and not complain.

Reduced Fat Whipped Onion and Chive Cream Cheese Spread

We used this one for breakfast on whole grain toast, which is a better alternative to bagels. If you’re not a fan of onion and chives, they do offer just plain whipped cream cheese too.

Jalapeno Pepper Wedges

This is one of my favorites. It makes a perfect snack with some fruit or crackers. I actually used to spread on a Flatout wrap for lunch.

Reduced Fat Whipped Strawberry Cream Cheese Spread

This was by far the most popular one to use. While it would be great spread on a bagel or toast, maybe in a wrap with turkey and slaw, we used ours for Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting on Cupcakes, and a delicious dipping sauce to go with our grilled fruit.

I have actually never grilled fruit before. Can you believe it? I let both the older girls create their own kabobs with the fruit, which was a fun little thing for them to do, and of course they always love to help mommy cook.

We used peaches, pineapple, and strawberries, but you could also use bananas, blueberries, any fruit really. I let the kabobs cook just a few minutes on each side. It’s a super quick and easy side dish or dessert.

The dip is super easy to make!

Take 1/2 cup Light (or Fat Free) Cool Whip and 1/2 cup Weight Watchers® Reduced Fat Whipped Strawberry Cream Cheese Spread, and mix well together. This makes about 4-6 servings.

Voila! You have an easy and delicious dip to go with your grilled fruit, that everyone will love.

Don’t forget to connect with Weight Watchers® on Facebook and Twitter!

I received the products mentioned above for my review. All thoughts and opinions are always my own.

This will be a great idea. On Jenny Craig, this would be a nice incentive to add with my fruit serving.

The cheese dip sounds good. I never thought about grilling fruit. Might have to try it out.
