About AllowCopy
A small technology desk writing about the machinery under everyday software: identity checks, payment rails, data pipelines, delivery infrastructure and what a browser will let you do with a document.
Where the name comes from
allowcopy.com was, for years, a free utility that removed selection blockers from web pages. The tool is retired. The subject it grew out of — who controls a document once it has reached your screen — is still the centre of what we cover, and the explainer that replaced the tool lives in Web & Browsers.
What we publish
Six sections: Security & Privacy, Data & AI, Payments, Infrastructure, Web & Browsers and Gaming Tech. Pieces are explanatory rather than newsy: we would rather describe how a mechanism works than report that it exists.
The archive
This domain carried sponsored articles under previous owners, in ten languages. Those pages are kept at their original addresses in the archive — other sites link to them — but they are not part of the current editorial line and are not promoted on the front page.
